The Double T Program

I founded The Double T Program in fifth grade. Double T donates "hygiene kits", or little goody bags with a toothbrush, toothpaste tube, two other hygiene items (such as floss, soap, shampoo, etc.) and an encouraging quote to people in need. The idea came to me after seeing a show on the Discovery Health story about a little girl my age who had lived with a family so poor they couldn't even afford to buy her a toothbrush. Then, that night as I was brushing my teeth, I started to think about the homeless. Many of these people appear dirty because their money is being spent on more important things, like food or shelter. I had read lots of books with interviews of homeless people who said they desperately wanted to work, but "who would hire someone looking like this?" I decided I wanted to provide the homeless along with other people in need with something simple, a bag of hygiene essentials, so they could look the same as you and me.
Since I founded Double T four years ago, we have delivered 2,535 hygiene kits to people in need as close to me as Arlington Heights and as far away as Uganda and Bolivia, as well as over 600 various hygiene supplies. We've donated to homeless shelters, food pantries, shut-in seniors, foster-kids, abused women and children, Hurricane Katrina victims, shut-in seniors; all people who otherwise wouldn't have access to such simple items. At the bottom of this page you can see a list of the items we are in need of. Thank you to everybody who has supported this program... after all, a smile is worth so much more than it costs!
